instagram stories: the footprints

JANUARY 2018 - Bryan and Candy Griffin gave us an old bookcase in need of repair probably 15 years ago.

I cut and stained new shelves and a new bottom, and before the stain was dry, my baby girl, not more than 3 or 4 years old, stepped on the wet wood.

Years later, when it came time to get the bookcase out of our garage, I put it off, because of those foot prints, as long as I could. Finally, I gave in, and the bookcase went to a church.

In mid-January, I received the best surprise!

Tabitha Barone and her father-in-law converted the bookcase into a bench and coat rack, cutting away those precious foot prints and saving them for me.

"You would have done the same," she said. "When my father in law made the bench he made sure to save these for you. I know how precious these are. My own little ones will not be little for long! I’m glad you have them to treasure."

Tabitha surprised me with the wooden section of shelf with the biggest smile on her face. I was overjoyed and blessed. I will treasure this reminder of a little girl who will turn 19 on Friday.

“Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.” - ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:26-27‬

“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” - Abraham Lincoln
